Growing up in Oakland, CA, to a family of talented musicians, Sheila E. was raised on Latin jazz and Motown, and heavily influenced by Bay Area acts ranging from Grateful Dead to The Pointer Sisters. Gaining recognition as a world-class drummer and percussionist in the '70s, she began amassing an impressive string of credits, playing with pioneering talents like George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Ringo Starr, and Gloria Estefan. In 1984, she launched a solo career, releasing influential hits like "The Glamorous Life" and "A Love Bizarre." Today, Shiela E. continues to produce music and bring her fierce, dynamic verve to stages worldwide.
